We are lucky to have had lots of fantastic volunteers come through our door over the years. From students looking to gain some work experience, through to retired finance directors keen to share their wisdom. We ensure that all our volunteers have the best possible experience while making a real difference to the charity and the lives of people in Nkhata Bay North.
There are a variety of ways you can get involved, both in the UK and, occasionally, in Malawi:
- Support our UK Team in communications, fundraising or programmes
- Join our Summer Festival Tour team
- Become a Trustee
- Lend a hand at exciting events, such as our Annual Christmas party or at art auctions

Trusts & Foundations Volunteer
Where: Temwa Bristol offices / Hybrid
Duration: 1-2 days a week
Start: ASAP
We are looking for a driven individual with a passion for international development, to support us in delivering our trust and grants fundraising strategy. Supported by the Fundraising Manager, you will help Temwa to apply for and win crucial grant funding to help us to deliver our programmes in Malawi and make a real difference to people in northern rural Malawi.
You will need to have a keen eye for detail, excellent research and communication skills and an ability to work on multiple projects at once. Our volunteers are an essential part of helping Temwa to achieve its goals and you will be able to have real impact while gaining valuable experience.

Fundraising Volunteer
Where: Temwa Bristol offices / Hybrid
Duration: 1-2 days a week

We are looking for a motivated and committed volunteer with a passion for international development, to support us in delivering our fundraising strategy and meeting our 2023 income targets. This is a varied role which will provide you with excellent experience across several areas of charitable fundraising including events, corporate, trusts and grants.

Social Media Volunteer
Where: Temwa Bristol offices / Hybrid

As the Social Media Volunteer you will be an integral part of the Fundraising and Communication team. We are seeking someone motivated and committed, with a passion for international development and experience in social media, who can support us to grow and develop our various social media platforms.
This is a great opportunity to join a small, friendly team and gain valuable experience of working in marketing in the charity/NGO sector. As a key member of the team, you’ll have real responsibilities and will be able to develop skills and experience while promoting our organisational mission and enhancing your CV.
