Volunteer

We are lucky to have had lots of fantastic volunteers come through our door over the years. From students looking to gain some work experience, through to retired finance directors keen to share their wisdom. We ensure that all our volunteers have the best possible experience while making a real difference to the charity and the lives of people in Nkhata Bay North.

There are a variety of ways you can get involved, both in the UK and, occasionally, in Malawi:

  • Support our UK Team in communications, fundraising or programmes
  • Join our Summer Festival Tour team. Sign up HERE
  • Become a Trustee
  • Lend a hand at exciting events, such as our Annual Christmas party

Social Media Volunteer

Where: Temwa Bristol offices / Hybrid

Duration: 1-2 days a week

Start: ASAP

As the Social Media Volunteer you will be an integral part of the Fundraising and Communication team. We are seeking someone motivated and committed, with a passion for international development and experience in social media, who can support us to grow and develop our various social media platforms.

This is a great opportunity to join a small, friendly team and gain valuable experience of working in marketing in the charity/NGO sector. As a key member of the team, you’ll have real responsibilities and will be able to develop skills and experience while promoting our organisational mission and enhancing your CV.

Christmas Party Volunteer

Where: Temwa Bristol offices / Hybrid

Duration: 1-2 days a week

Start: October tbc

As the Christmas Party Volunteer, you’ll support the planning and delivery of Temwa’s annual Christmas Party Fundraiser on 6th December 2025, a fundraising event with our wonderful network of supporters. We’re looking for someone reliable, proactive, and excited to get involved both in the lead-up and on the night of the event.

You’ll help source raffle and auction prizes, assist with admin and logistics, and play a hands-on role in making sure the event runs smoothly, from setup to pack-down. This is a great opportunity to gain behind-the-scenes experience in events and fundraising, meet new people, and contribute to the success of a small but impactful charity supporting communities in Malawi.
