Overview
Humanity stands at a defining moment, and the actions we take today will shape the generations to come. This exclusive event brings together influential figures and cultural leaders to explore what the world could look like if we do everything possible to avert climate catastrophe.
Through visionary talks, immersive storytelling and a one‑of‑a‑kind experiential workshop with Rob Hopkins, attendees will step directly into the future we still have the power to create: a future of resilient communities, clean air, restored biodiversity, and a shared sense of purpose. The event will be hosted by Temwa Board Chair / Microsofts Director of Digital Strategy Rich Potter.
Event Highlights
Keynote: The Climate Situation
A leading climate scientist will deliver a 10–15 minute briefing on:
- The current state of the climate emergency
- Why it is still possible to limit global temperature rise to between 1.5°C and 2°C
- The key systemic actions humanity must take in the coming years
Featuring Rob Hopkins – Reimagining the Possible
Rob Hopkins: author, visionary, and founder of the Transition Movement, will present a powerful exploration of:
- An explanation the possibilities of the future that he has seen
- Why large‑scale transformation is impossible without leaders
- Stories of what a new kind of community that enables the future to enter into people looks like.
This talk will be broadcast via live stream and recorded for wider reach.
The Journey Into the Future: A 3‑Hour Creative Leadership Workshop
Attendees are invited to take part in workshop hosted by Rob where they can step into the future we all deserve and work out how we get there. This will be playful and fun, and provided he can get a permit in time from the Bristol Temporal Interference Authority (BTIA) he will be bringing his time machine and inviting everyone taking part to join him on an excursion to the future!
What could the future turn out like if we do everything we could possibly have done? A low carbon world of rebounding biodiversity, clean air, of stronger unified purpose, with amazing cycling networks, sustainable food systems and car free neighbourhoods. Inspired by Rilke’s statement that “the future must enter into you a long time before it happens”, this blending of music, light projection and visuals will transport you through time to the future that turned out the best it could possibly have turned out.
You will emerge convinced that we can be part of the greatest achievement in human history, we can be the generation who averted climate catastrophe.
Following our time portal experience we will convene for a conversation around the question of how do we do this? What was already in place that this future grew from? What did we do differently? How did we work together differently?
Outcomes: Leaving With Purpose, Language, and Momentum
To create mass behavioural change, we need influential people who can articulate hope, urgency and possibility. Attendees will leave equipped to:
Communicate confidently about the climate emergency
Speak with family, colleagues, supporters and audiences about the narrow window we still have – and the actions everyone can take.
Connect deeply with the future they want to help create
Discover their own “North Star” vision and learn to describe it in a way that inspires others.
Advocate powerfully with political and institutional leaders
Use fresh, compelling, ‘Not‑Yet’ language to call for bold, accountable decisions grounded in the will of the majority.
Spark mass behaviour change
Support people to focus on the three biggest impact areas – energy, transport and food – as well as fast fashion, steering the conversation away from low‑impact actions like recycling and toward transformative shifts.
