HAVE A READ OF SOPHIE AND JEMIMA’S BLOG EXPLAINING WHY THEY ARE TAKING PART IN COLOUR ME RAD FOR TEMWA…

It has been a while since I have taken part in a sponsored event for Temwa, 14 years in fact(where does the time go?). I have been nagging myself to do something for a while, but one thing I find difficult is asking people for money to sponsor me to do something. However, thanks to Jemima-  my 7 year old daughter – I was left with no choice and before I knew it we were both signed up for Colour Me Rad!

As one of the Temwa founders I am aware of how crucial sponsored events are to supporting our work in Malawi. The money raised continues to ensure that we are able to reach some of the most vulnerable people in the remote and rural communities of northern Malawi.

What is amazing is that Jemima is already showing the same passion and dedication to Temwa that I have.

When I asked her why she wanted to take part, she explained:

“I really want to raise money for the people who live in malawi. I want them to be able to live in better houses and to be able to get better if they are poorly.

I can’t wait to do the run, it’s going to be so much fun and i am so happy that me and my mum can reach the end together. I also can’t wait to see mum covered in paint.

I really want to raise lots of money and one day i want to visit malawi with my family and see the people that temwa helps and also hopefully see a crocodile…..”

Totally proud mum moment.

So on 20th June we will both be running 5k, quite an achievement for a 7 year old, and I will be getting covered in paint, which for those who know me is an achievement in itself.

Jemima is adamant that we are going to hit our fundraising target. To do that we need people like you to support us. Anything you can spare would be appreciated and will not only support our projects, but make a little girl’s day! If you can spare anything it will be gratefully received.
