Hi Temwa! I’m Katie and have recently joined Temwa as their Events & Marketing Coordinator.
I have over seven years working experience in fundraising, events management and marketing for the not for profit sector.
I moved to Bristol two years ago from Ireland where I worked in fundraising for the arts sector until I saw this job advertised and I jumped at the chance to work for Temwa! It’s an organisation very close to my heart and it really helps you fundraise when you truly believe in the cause which is how I feel about Temwa.
So far I have been having a great time settling into my new role. Already, I am amazed at how brilliant the local community of Bristol really supports Temwa, it’s so humbling and inspiring. I’m really excited to get to know this amazing community of volunteers, interns, fundraisers and artists.
My first fundraising event I’ve worked on was the Bristol Half Marathon which went really well. I met the runners on the day to wish them luck and met them afterwards to congratulate them. That is always my favourit part of working in fundraising, is meeting the lovely people doing these remarkable challenges to help support a really good cause.
Next up I’m working on Temwa’s 12th Anniversary Party coming up in November which is very exciting! The invites just arrived today fresh off the printers and they look beautiful!
After that we have lots more events and challenges coming up which I look forward to pushing to help raise much needed funds for Temwa.
