Old walls holding secrets of tales untold,
With echoes of curiosity, of old and new,
Don your best attire – we’re inviting you,
To tantalise your tastebuds with a seasonal feast,
As you’re served locally sourced, home made, heart warming treats,
Take a friend by the hand and explore ’til you find,
A musical character who is most refined,
Harking back to an era of jazz and swing,
Fill your ears with fine tunes, give into dancing,
Find magicians, friendly faces and a cause that inspires,

An overview…
The Loco Klub in itself provides a beautifully atmospheric setting for Temwa’s 2019 Christmas Party, taking place in the tunnels beneath Temple Meads station. With a theme of fantastical delight we encourage you to dress to express – in your own way – a good dose of fancy, festive fun. Ideal for friends, colleagues, fellow freelancers and Temwa supporters old and new!
Your evening includes a glass of bubbly and canapés on arrival, giving you a chance to explore the space and mingle with other guests as you settle in. A banquet style dinner will be served as you take a seat for your main course and dessert – created, cooked and served by the lovely team at Kate’s Kitchen (with the planet and your taste buds in mind). Following on from dinner we’ll host a live auction with an amazing array of prizes to be won, from unique experiences and luxury holidays to hampers and last minute stocking fillers. Then it’s time to take to the dance floor as Jack Calloway and his band fill the arches with jazz and swing, before DJ Michael Vinyl keeps you moving until the party draws to a close and your carriage home awaits…
All funds raised on the evening make a real and lasting impact, helping to empower people in remote communities of Malawi to tackle the root causes of poverty and transform futures. It’s amazing what can happen #WhenCommunitiesComeTogether.

Dinner is served…
A feel good menu in every way! This Christmas, Kate’s Kitchen will be serving a delectable feast, every bite of which is home made with seasonal, locally and sustainably sourced ingredients. Kate’s inspiration comes from her grandmother’s farm house cooking and mother’s home grown fruit and veg as well as her experience of working as a chef in top bistros and restaurants both here in Bristol and New Zealand. Kate and her team are passionate about what they do, committed to supporting local and being kind to the planet at the same time as delivering top quality service and delicious, real food.
Be greeted with canapés on arrival before taking a seat at the banquet table for your main course. Dessert will be served as a shared platter with a generous selection of sweet-tooth pleasing treats.

Wiper and True Ale, local venison, wild mushroom and pearl barley hot pot with parsnip crisps

Food orders will need to be made in advance of the evening. On booking your tickets, a member of the Temwa team will be in touch to collect your order (for group bookings, we’ll need a main contact who can gather the group’s choices to send on to us).

After dinner, take to the dance floor as entertainment is provided by the incredible Jack Calloway and His Dance Band!
Jack Calloway’s appearances never go unnoticed, nor do they ever have an unsold ticket or an inch of sitting room. His unique on and offstage presence, unbelievable talent and passion for swing, jazz and dance entertains adoring audiences nationwide.
Jack Calloway & His Dance Band have become nationally known and loved since their humble beginning in Bristol. Now, audiences, especially dancers, cannot get a ticket fast enough to experience their magnificent show. With a forever growing repertoire and forever growing ensemble, Jack Calloway & His Dance Band continue to take the swing and jazz scene by storm.

The live auction brochure is here! This Christmas, treat yourself or your loved one to a gift that helps to transform the lives of people living in the fourth poorest country on earth. The auction prizes have been donated by very generous local businesses and supporters of Temwa. If your bid is successful, your donation will help to unlock a better future through girl’s education, reduce preventable diseases through access to safe water and help families grow more through Temwa’s community programmes.
Have a look at what’s on offer and when you’re ready place a pre-bid with the highest price you would go up to. A member of the team will place this on the night.

Full dinner ticket: £40 per person + booking fee
Doors open at 7pm, with canapés and bubbly served on arrival. Group bookings are very welcome – our Christmas party is a brilliant alternative option for work parties, an opportunity to gather fellow freelancers, friends, family and Temwa supporters old and new!
After party ticket: £10 per person + booking fee (or £10 cash on the door, subject to availability)
The more the merrier. Why not invite friends to join you after dinner? Or if you can’t make the whole evening, come along in time to catch the entertainment! After Party entry is from 10pm, when the live music begins!
Donate a ticket: £40 donation + booking fee
If you aren’t able to make it along to the evening but would still like to contribute, you can provide a wonderful gift by donating a ticket, so that one of our wonderful volunteers can attend the evening for free. You’ll be giving them a great thank you present at the same time as making a difference to the communities that Temwa partners with in Malawi.
